Dear Mom,
First I must apologize for not writing sooner, I have been very busy and haven't had time before now. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I want you to know that even though we were not together, I thought about you all day. There were special treats handed out Christmas day! I was a very good girl and waited while Sandy dug through the bag for the perfect treat for each dog. I thought I was going to have to wait a long time - there were four other dogs and, well, they get very excited when they hear the plastic bag noise. Guess what!! I got mine first! At first I thought it was because I was the guest but Sandy explained it was because I was the calmest. She only gives out treats when the dogs sit patiently and are calm. This is something I have not seen before, the dogs are a little slow in understanding that. I heard Sandy tell Cassie that "she needs to be a lady like Daisy", Cassie didn't like that very much. I think she gave me the old "stink eye" look that she does to intimidate other dogs. After all the Christmas treats were handed out, Sandy showered and took us for a little walk. We came back in the house and I saw Sandy carrying a lot of stuff out to her car. When she came back in we all got in our crates. You would be so proud of me! I remembered from the last time I was here in Pennsylvania that when Sandy says "IN", we all walk into our crates and get a treat for doing that. I was the first dog in my crate so I got my treat first. Cooper was next, but he was kind of excited so Sandy closed the door and went over to Cassie and she got her treat. Cooper was really drooling by the time she came back over to him. Since he was sitting nicely, Sandy dropped the cookie in to his crate. (I think she does that to save her fingers! Cooper REALLY likes cookies!) The rest of the day was quiet and we all caught up on our rest until Sandy came back home and took us for another little walk.
Saturday morning we woke Sandy up and went outside. It was still really warm for December so we stayed outside and played for a while. The little dog - I'm not sure if his name is Cricket or Little Monster - Sandy uses both; he came charging at me so I thought it would be fun to run and let him chase me. I've heard that he is only 7 months old but he sure knows how to run. We had a great time running around in the big yard! Cooper and Cassie didn't play much, they just watched Cricket and I. I think Cassie wanted to join in, Sandy kept her on the leash because she can get rough and since I am a little lady Sandy thought it would be more fun for me to play with Cricket. She did let Cooper off his leash to join in the fun. Have you seen that dog? I'm not sure he is a dog, he looks more like the size of the horses that are in the field next to Sandy's house. Cricket and I were down in the yard playing when I heard this galloping noise and thought one of the horses was running toward us. I cringed and waited for the impact! When I opened my eyes I saw it was just Cooper! Phew! He ran right past us and started sniffing around, I was slightly traumatized and sat down. Sandy called us into the house and we all went in for a treat and a nap.
Sunday morning we got up and strolled down the lane. I like it when we do that, there are a lot of new smells and things to watch. Cassie is funny when we get near the stream with tall grass. She goes and sniffs and once in a while she will pounce into the tall grass. She looks like she is hunting something, she isn't very good though, I've never seen her catch anything. We came back up to the house and then ate breakfast. Sandy said it was time to do our chores. After we cleaned up, we went outside. I heard Sandy getting things out of the shed and she walked the things over to where trees were lying in the yard. She played around with them and then I heard this loud growling noise. It made me nervous but Sandy said it won't bite. She then explained that we had to cut wood and this thing would help us do that. We cut wood for hours! After a while, Sandy was starting to groan and grunt a lot. She took the growling thing and put it back in the shed with the other stuff and then we went back inside. Sandy took a shower and we all rested for the remainder of the day.
Monday morning we all got up and went outside for our stroll. We came back in the house and got our treats and waited while Sandy and Mickey ate breakfast and got showers. Then the best thing happened! Cooper and Cassie were told to get in their crates and CJ, Cricket and I got our leashes put on. We walked out and got in the car! I love going for car rides! Sandy said I am the best passenger. We drove Mickey to a doctor appointment and then we had a really long car ride. I was getting excited because I new we were in Frederick! Home!! We took Mickey back but then we only got back in the car and drove back to Pennsylvania. I was a little disappointed but Sandy told me that it will only be five more days until you come to pick me up! I was very happy to hear that news.
This morning we got up and went for our little stroll. Sandy said she has something special planned for us today. I'm not sure what it is, she won't tell us but she said we must be very good. I promised I will be on my best behavior. Cricket and Cooper said they would too, Cassie said it too but she had her paws crossed and I don't think she was serious. I will write to you tomorrow to let you know what it is. I have to go now, I see Sandy is getting things ready and I don't want to miss out on a car ride! I hope you are doing well and enjoying your vacation.
Love, sniffs and Kisses,
Daisy
