Letters from Daisy - Day 3

Submitted by Sandy on Wed, 12/02/2015 - 12:02

Dear Mom,

I slept really good last night.  Sandy has been working with me to get over my fear of getting in my crate.  The first night she put a lead on me and walked me over to the crate and I cautiously got in.  The second night she did the same thing and I didn't even hesitate!  I'm sure you will be very proud of me.  I'm working hard to be your best dog EVER!  Sandy got up and let the little monster (Cricket) out and then put him back into his crate.  He's just a little guy so she gets up when he starts whimpering and takes him out.  Cooper, CJ, Cassie and I all tried to show him that you should be quiet and wait for the human to get up before you start making demands.  I think the best thing would be to wait until Sandy has had a cup of coffee! He's just a little guy and I think in time he will grow into a good dog like me.

Once it got to be daylight, Sandy got up and took all of us out.  We are all learning that we can go outside faster if we wait calmly and let Sandy go out the door first.  She can be a bit cranky and makes us come back inside if we all rush out before her.  She's really in need of some training so that she understands dogs better.  Hopefully one day she will be able to get some training.

After we all took care of things, we came back in the house, Sandy drank a cup of coffee and picked up our leashes.  I couldn't believe it, the 3rd day in a row and this crazy person was taking us for a walk AGAIN!  I really think she doesn't quite understand that I need my beauty rest.  We all humored her and we got into the car.  It was a really pretty day, a little chilly but the sun was shining and it felt good on my back.  We got in the car and drove down the road.  We turned into a different park and we all got out of the car.  We were pretty excited about being in a new place and we tried to show Sandy by running around in circles and tied her up with our leashes.  Sandy kept muttering back, back and we did but we all went back in different directions and that seemed to get Sandy a little nervous.  I heard "SIT" and we all stopped and looked at her.  She didn't sit.  (She needs some work on that.)  While we were standing there waiting for her to sit, she played with the leashes and got them away from her legs and we started off on a walk.  The lake we were at today was called Marquette Lake.  This lake is a little more secluded and a very quiet place, I think this would have been a good place for us to sit and meditate but I think Sandy wanted to practice her walking.  Our walk was a little more hilly than the last couple of days, but it was very pretty.  We stopped by a stream and Sandy took a picture of us.  She said she would send it to you, I made sure I was up front so you could see me.  We didn't walk as far today as the other couple days.  It took longer though, we stopped a couple times and watched the geese fly into the pond and then watched them land on the lake.  Sandy took another picture and we started walking again.

We got back to the car and came back to the house.  Sandy told us it was Thanksgiving and we could take the rest of the day off.  I know I was thankful for that and I demonstrated by taking a nice long nap.  Tonight Sandy said "IN" to Cassie and Cooper.  They both got up and walked into their crates.  I was laying on the couch and saw Sandy watching me.  She said "Daisy IN", I got up jumped off the couch and walked into my crate.  I was such a big, brave girl and Sandy told me I was a good dog.

I hope you are having a good time with your son and his wife, I'm being a big, brave dog.  I do miss you very much.  This pack is okay, but there is nothing better than being home and cuddling with you.  Sandy lets me cuddle with her, but I think Cricket gets jealous and has to push his way onto Sandy's lap.  I let him, I'm being a polite guest and trying to be patient with the little monster.

It's time for bed now, I'm sleepy and I heard Sandy is planning another walk for us tomorrow.  I thought I'd let you know that I'm thankful that you are my human, Sandy is okay and she gives me bully sticks, I think I'll be able to stay for one more day.

Love, sniffs and kisses,
Daisy
