Today is day 4 away from you. I am being a very good girl and trying to follow instructions from Sandy. She told me I am doing very well with getting into my crate. All she says is "Daisy in" and I go and walk right into my crate! The treats here are pretty good, sometimes I don't want the first one that is offered and Sandy will give me a choice of treats! I pick one and nibble on it for a while. If I don't eat it right away, the little monster Cricket will come and try to talk me into giving it to him. I don't want him to gain wait so I eat it. It is nice here, I think this place is the next best thing to being home.
I heard that you got to spend time with your family, I'm very happy you were able to do this. If I am not able to be with you, I will stay with my temporary pack in Pennsylvania. We didn't walk in the morning, Sandy had some errands to do and finally in the afternoon I heard the drawer open and the jingle of the leashes. The rest of the pack heard it too and we all walked over to the door and waited patiently for Sandy to get our leashes on. Cassie got excited and started to yell a little bit, Sandy snapped her fingers and Cassie sat down and waited. Sandy made her wait until she was totally calm and then put her leash on. Once everyone was ready, we were standing and waiting for her to open the door. We were all pretty excited - we knew we were going for a walk. There was a little pushing and shoving and we started getting tangled up in the leashes, Sandy snapped her fingers and made that "TSCH" sound. I was shocked, the rest of the dogs backed up and got calm. Sandy opened the door and we walked outside. I thought we were going to walk from the house, but Sandy opened the back of the car and told Cassie and Cooper to get in. They jumped into the back and then Cricket, CJ and I walked over to the side door with Sandy. She opened the door and helped us get in. Her car is kind of high for my little legs so I was thankful she helped me up into the back seat. Sandy got in the car and Mickey got into the shotgun position. We backed out of the driveway and headed down the road. This must have been a special walk, Mickey hadn't been on the rest of our walks but today she went along for a walk too.
We went down to Memorial Lake like we have before and parked in one of the parking lots near the late. There were more people here today and I saw a lot more dogs. We started out on our walk, Mickey walked with CJ and the rest of us were with Sandy. After about 10 minutes, Mickey said she was going to walk CJ back and wait until the rest of us got back to the car. Sandy kept walking and we turned up a dirt road, this was a different route than we had been on before. This road was really neat, we saw some squirrels. Cassie thought she could have caught one if Sandy would have let her. Sandy made her stop trying and then we were coming up where there is a big dam with a walkway across it. I thought we were going to take this walkway, but there were some children there and they seemed very excited. Cricket started getting excited and was barking, the children started running our way, they turned away when Sandy took us another direction. Children seem to love little dogs like Cricket and since Sandy was trying to keep him calm, she decided it was best to keep walking. We got back to the road that goes around the lake and we turned and headed out that road. We saw a man walking a beagle and I thought we would get to meet him, but Cassie started acting up. Sandy made a correction with her and we kept going so Cassie wouldn't get so anxious. I was very calm and just watched the dog go by.
We walked back up one of the roads we had gone before and Sandy turned into one of the parking lots. I thought she might have forgot where she parked. Then we walked across some grass and walked closer to the lake. The lake is very pretty and we had our picture taken while we sat next to the lake. I think I looked really good in the picture. Sandy had to run after Cooper, he thought we were going to go for a swim, Sandy said she didn't want to smell wet dog when we had to drive home. We followed the path around the lake and met up with more people with dogs, there was one lady pushing a stroller. I thought there was a baby in there but it was a dog. Can you believe that?? I wondered if there was something wrong with the dog, I can't imagine that he would have wanted to be in there - I think all dogs should walk and get to smell all the good things out there. We saw another dog and he was really excited to see us. Cassie growled and barked because he was really pulling his human to try and get to see us. Sandy snapped her fingers again and went "TSCH" and Cassie stopped growling. I think Cassie has some issues with other dogs, she can be a little surly sometimes, she is fine with her pack but I noticed that she does this when other dogs get excited to see us.
We were walking for an hour. I was really good and happy to be outside. The path we walked on went through the woods and across some streams. It was very pretty and I think it will be prettier when winter comes and the snow covers the ground. Do you think we might be able to come back when it snows? I was beginning to think we were going to walk forever that day. I was okay with that, I really like walks with a pack. We came off the trail and back to the car. Mickey was waiting in the car and CJ was very happy to see us. Sandy got us all back into the car and we drove home. Our walk today was 3.6 miles! I never thought I would walk that far, I had a lot of fun. I'm glad that I came to stay with the Pennsylvania pack.
We got home and Sandy fed us, I was hungry after a long walk and ate all my food. The other dogs must have been very hungry, especially Cooper. He finished his food and was eyeing mine. I gave him a warning and he let me finish my food. I was glad, I worked hard for my dinner! After dinner we rested and Sandy took us out to go potty before bedtime. She told me that tomorrow I was going to see you! That made me very happy. I had a great time with them, I like my home with you. I had a great time and look forward to another play date with Cricket and CJ. For now, I'm happy I'm coming home to you. I like our little pack.
See you tomorrow!
Love, sniff and kisses,
Daisy
